For the third year in a row, Oakland Serves will be supporting OUSD’s summer learning program for 9th and 10th graders: Summer HAcK (Healing & Academics 4 Kids).  This unique program provides academic credit recovery plus hands-on art and enrichment projects led by community partners BAY-peace, ArtEsteem, YouthBeat, and Niroga Institute. 

We welcome mentors of all ages (18+)!

Position: HAcK Mentor
Location: Life Academy (2101 35th Avenue, Oakland, CA 94601)
Dates: June 9, 2025 to July 3, 2025 (no class June 19 and 20)
Time Commitment:

• Academic classes and project time runs from 9:25 am to 1:00 pm
• A minimum of 20 volunteer hours are expected over the 17 day event (total possible is 68 - 72hr).
• Certificate of Recognition given for volunteer hours 

Responsibilities:

• Support classes in Algebra, Geometry, English 1 and 2, World History, or Biology.
• Provide encouragement and individualized attention to help students succeed.
• Assist with art and audio-visual projects conducted by community partners.
• Promote a welcoming, supportive, and engaging environment for all students.​

Requirements

• You must be 18 or over.
• You must pass DOJ/FBI clearance
