For the third year in a row, Oakland Serves will be supporting OUSD’s summer learning program for 9th and 10th graders: Summer HAcK (Healing & Academics 4 Kids). This unique program provides academic credit recovery plus hands-on art and enrichment projects led by community partners BAY-peace, ArtEsteem, YouthBeat, and Niroga Institute.

Position: HAcK Mentor
Location: Life Academy (2101 35th Avenue, Oakland, CA 94601)
Dates: June 9, 2025 to July 3, 2025 (no class June 19 and 20)
Time Commitment:
- Academic classes and project time runs from 9:25 am to 1:00 pm
- A minimum of 20 volunteer hours are expected over the 17 day event (total possible is 68 - 72hr).
- Certificate of Recognition given for volunteer hours
- Support classes in Algebra, Geometry, English 1 and 2, World History, or Biology.
- Provide encouragement and individualized attention to help students succeed.
- Assist with art and audio-visual projects conducted by community partners.
- Promote a welcoming, supportive, and engaging environment for all students.
- You must be 18 or over.
- You must pass DOJ/FBI clearance
- Fill out our mentor application and we will set up an interview.
- Review our volunteer qualification process
- Applications are due by May 11, 2025.
