Welcome New Board Member Eli Smukler!

We are so pleased to have Eli Smukler joins our Board of Directors!.  Eli is an Oakland resident and software engineering manager at Pandora's Oakland HQ.  He has a long history of working with students, initially as a math teacher. Since then he has taught web development with  CodeNation and MissionBit and fortunately for us, became a mentor for Oakland Serves (Algebra 1 at Castlemont HS!).

His valuable expertise and passion for the importance of our mission will be a great contribution to our board. He shared his perspective on the impact we make:

"Oakland Serves provides a monumental opportunity to connect the incredible and diverse student body of OUSD with folks who have the power—with a couple hours a week—to vastly improve their chances at a successful post-graduation trajectory."

Eli adds, "With the issues in our country today, there could not be a more valuable time for helping the young people around us. They should receive the education they deserve to build the future they desire."
